Pastor Ray LaSalle

Dr. Ray LaSalle was born again at age nine.  By age twelve, he began to sense the call to ministry.  Educated at Indianapolis Public Schools, Great Commission School, and Union Bible Seminary.  In 1967, entered the field of full-time evangelism averaging fifty-one weeks a year with a five year advance slate booked.  He traveled nationally, and to the West Indies and Puerto Rico along with calls to New Guinea, Brazil, and Mexico.  His ministry has spanned into more than thirty-five denominations with revival campaigns, area-wide crusades, conventions, and campmeetings.

He was commissioned in 1969 as an evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene and represented his district four times as a delegate to the General Assembly.

During those years he served on the General Board of the Wesleyan Tabernacle Association, served as Secretary of  Evangelical Communications Corporation, and served for twenty years as trustee of Union Bible Seminary.  He served as President of Fort Scott Christian Heights Elementary and High School, and founded “Heart Start Day Care Center.

In 1972 he founded and became President of Ray of Hope, Incorporated for which he was the radio speaker on a network of twenty-eight stations for sixteen years and editor of it’s publication with a circulation of 5,000 plus.

Rev. LaSalle married in 1974 to his lovely wife, Jan,  an accomplished pianist.  They are the parents of two.  Renee, aged 29, who is the news anchor for NBC TV in Chattanooga, TN.  Roger is 27 and is a nuclear medicine technologist working at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe, Ohio.

In June, 1990, Rev. LaSalle left full-time evangelism to become the pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene in Brazil, Indiana.  While there, the church grew by more than 90 new households.

Since the beginning of 1993, the LaSalle’s have poured their hearts into the Bucyrus ministry.  Since coming, the sanctuary and two wings were remodeled.  A youth meeting location has been developed.  A thirty-five foot high sign was erected along the highway.  Upward Basketball has become a thriving ministry tool.

The church has gone to two services on Sunday morning and Sunday School on Sunday evening.  Sonshine Preschool and Childcare was started averaging around 75 daily.  Friend Day Weekend has been one of the pastor’s passions.  Usually the attendance will be well over 1,000.

His strong points are his warmth and compassion, along with his winsome, witty, and wise, anointed preaching.  He has been the Senior Pastor for 17 years which is longer tenure than any pastor in the church’s history.   A strong percent of the town listen regularly to his weekly radio broadcast over WBCO 1540 AM.

The Community Hospital Chaplaincy is led by his leadership.   Under his ministry, a unity and warmth has grown and spread through the congregation.  He has gathered around him a strong and talented staff.  The attendance and finances are the highest in the church’s history.  God is on the “move” in Bucyrus.

Six years ago, Miss Jan’s brain was damaged by a lack of oxygen due to a heart episode.  She must have continual care and resides in a nearby nursing home.

This website is a new outreach to replace the publication once sent out as well as replace the tape club that many once received on a regular basis.  Hopefully in the near future, sermons by MP3 and transcripts will be available.

This site will also serve to share the revival schedule of LaSalle’s ministry.
